Fig Tree B’nai Mitzvah Cohort of 2022

About this Mitzvah Project…

In response to the [at the time of their project*] potential overturning of Roe v. Wade, Fig Tree’s B’nai Mitzvah Cohort of 2022 launched an awareness campaign on reproductive rights, and a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. Our students researched and created the below flyer, which they plan to hand out at their upcoming fundraiser bake sales on May 31 @ 5:30pm (Carroll Park on Court St), June 1 @ 5pm (corner of 5th Ave and 8th Street in Park Slope) and June 5 @ 1pm (Prospect Park at the Lafayette statue/ 9th St).

If you want to support their cause but can’t attend the bake sales, please consider donating below. 100% of your donation will go to Planned Parenthood, from the Fig Tree B’nai Mitzvah Cohort of 2022.

We’re so proud of our students’ commitment, passion and activism!

Update as of June 7: through their efforts, Fig Tree B’nai Mitzvah students raised $900 for Planned Parenthood! The gift was matched, so our students’ total contribution came to an auspicious $1800. Kol Hakavod to them!

Though our fundraiser is now over, you can donate directly to Planned Parenthood, and your donation will be matched through June 30.

*Update as of June 24: In lieu of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision being overthrown on June 24, 2022, we find comfort and hope in our students’ decision to passionately fight for reproductive rights! However, we don’t believe in leaving the fighting to them, alone. Here are some Jewish resources, to get us started:
