Fig Tree Classes at 14Y

Fig Tree is an independent Jewish education program where children build a lifelong love of Judaism through creativity, community, and joyful learning. We are thrilled to partner with the 14th Street Y to offer hands-on Jewish learning after school on Thursdays, beginning in Fall 2026.

Families who are enrolled in 14Y’s afterschool programs can select Fig Tree as an enrichment option, and families who are not enrolled at 14Y are welcome to join us as well. Scroll for details.

Preschool Program for 3’s/ 4’s (open to students who are age 3 by September 1)
Our youngest learners explore Jewish holidays, Shabbat, music, stories, and traditions through songs, movement, sensory play, art, and imaginative games. Classes are joyful, play-based, and designed to help children develop a positive connection to Jewish life from the very beginning.

Core Program (Kindergarten - 5th Grade)
Students discover Jewish holidays, ritual, values, history, and culture through hands-on learning, including art, drama, storytelling, games, music, filmmaking, and collaborative projects. Small classes, exceptional teachers, and a warm community help every child build a lifelong love of Judaism.

Hebrew Language Course (open to students in 2nd - 6th grade)
In this yearlong course, students learn to read, write, and speak Hebrew through conversation, games, music, project-based learning, and authentic texts. Whether preparing for Bar/ Bat/ B'nai Mitzvah or simply developing language skills, students gain confidence while discovering Hebrew as a living, joyful language.

Fig Tree x 14Y Logistics

Eligibility
All families are welcome to enroll in Fig Tree classes at 14Y. Enrollment in 14Y’s preschool or afterschool program is not required. Students who are enrolled in 14Y programming will have the option to register for Fig Tree during their enrichment classes, and will experience a seamless transition between 14Y activities and Fig Tree classes.

Fig Tree x 14Y classes take place at 344 E 14th St (between 1st and 2nd Aves), New York, NY.

Class Schedule

Calendar
Fig Tree x 14Y classes follow the Fig Tree school calendar, which matches the 14Y school calendar. The first day of Fig Tree is on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Registration

Families enrolled in 14Y afterschool may register for Fig Tree as an enrichment option for the full school year, in alignment with 14Y’s afterschool programming. (Those who add Fig Tree class after the school year begins will have tuition prorated accordingly.) Families who are not enrolled in 14Y afterschool may register for a single trimester or for the full school year.

Note that our Hebrew Language class is only offered as a yearlong course, and requires full-year enrollment.

Tuition

Tuition for 2026-27 is as follows:

• By trimester - $725, including materials fees ($625 for 3’s/ 4’s)

• By year - $1850, including materials fees ($1650 for 3’s/ 4’s)
